Shipments — Auto-pick carrier service rules
Auto Service Rules let ParcelPilot choose a carrier service automatically based on the order’s ecommerce platform, shipping method, and other signals.
Where rules are configured
Go to:
- Integrations → Carrier Integrations
- Create or edit a carrier integration for the client
- Scroll to Auto Service Rules
These rules are saved as part of the carrier integration's advanced settings.
Allowed Services vs Auto Service Rules
- Allowed Services controls what services appear in the service dropdown.
- Auto Service Rules choose a default service, and can also choose a default label type or package type, when the user has not selected one manually.
How matching works
- Rules are evaluated in the order they appear.
- The first rule that matches the order is used.
- If no rule matches, the user must pick a service manually.
A rule can match on:
- Ecommerce platform
- Destination country (ISO-2)
- Shipping title
- Shipping code or source
- Order source
- Order tags
- Shipping price min/max
- Order total min/max
A rule outputs:
- the carrier service to use
- the label format to use, if needed
- the package format to use, if needed
Tips
- Keep rules specific and put the most specific rules first.
- Start by matching on channel + shipping title, then add price/total ranges only if needed.
- If you want all shipments to use a single service, configure one Allowed Service and leave service blank when booking.
- If you want a broader catch-all rule, add a single Auto Service Rule that matches broadly (e.g. just channel).
