Serialised returns

When returning serial-tracked items, the return must be processed by serial number, not by quantity only. Returns V1.5 validates those serials against actual shipped serial evidence for the same canonical order line.

How to process

  • Create or open a Return (RMA)
  • Add a line for the serial-tracked SKU
  • In Serial numbers (one per line), scan/paste each serial on its own line
  • Qty Rec. must match the number of serials entered (it auto-fills from the serial count)

Split between quarantine and stock

To return some serials to quarantine and some to stock:

  • Create two lines for the same SKU
  • Line A: set Disposition to QUARANTINE (or HOLD), scan/paste the serials that should be quarantined
  • Line B: set Disposition to RESTOCK, choose the final stock location, scan/paste the serials that should go back to stock

Notes

  • A serial can only appear once in the whole RMA. If the same serial is entered on multiple lines, posting the return will be blocked.
  • A serial that was not actually shipped on the linked order line cannot be returned automatically.
  • A serial already returned on another POSTED return cannot be posted again.
  • If a serial already exists in inventory (even as SHIPPED with qty 0), the return will reuse that inventory unit record rather than creating a duplicate.
