Onboarding

Use the Onboarding area to work through the main setup steps for a new ParcelPilot account and for each client you onboard.

What this page is for

The onboarding page is a checklist-style dashboard. It helps you:

  • complete the core tenant setup first
  • onboard each client in a sensible order
  • see what is already done from real system data
  • spot the next best step without guessing where to go

Who can use it

  • Owners can use the onboarding page for their own tenant
  • platform admins can also review onboarding for any tenant/client when supporting setup

How new account signup works

When a new account is registered through the signup form:

  • a Tenant is created
  • a first Client is created for that tenant
  • the new user is created as the tenant Owner

The signup form asks for your name, company name, first client / brand name, email address, and password so the basic account structure is created in one go.

  • the company name is used for the tenant
  • the first client / brand name is used for the first client

How the onboarding area works

The first thing to do is use the separate Initial setup wizard linked from onboarding.

It now takes you through the early setup in order:

  • choose the setup path
  • complete the main tenant details
  • add the first warehouse
  • add the first location
  • add the first client / brand

The setup path step still asks:

  • whether you are a 3PL / fulfilment business or a brand / merchant
  • what you want to do first
  • whether orders will come from ecommerce platforms, manual entry, or both
  • which ecommerce platforms matter most, if applicable

ParcelPilot uses that information to tailor the wording and recommended path on the main onboarding page.

There is also a separate New client wizard so tenant owners can add a second, third, or later client in a simpler guided flow instead of using the full client form each time.

The page is split into four sections:

  1. Tenant setup
  2. Client setup
  3. First shipment
  4. Advanced setup

Each task shows:

  • whether it is Required or Nice to have
  • whether it is already complete
  • the next action to take
  • a few smaller checks underneath so you can see what is still missing

The progress bars are based on real records in ParcelPilot. For example, a step may become complete when a warehouse exists, a carrier is connected, or a first shipment has been created.

What the sections cover

Tenant setup

This covers the shared setup you normally do once:

  • tenant details
  • payment details
  • users
  • warehouses
  • locations
  • carrier accounts

Client setup

If you are following the 3PL path, this covers setup for the client you are currently onboarding:

  • client details
  • ecommerce integrations
  • items
  • inventory units

If you are following the brand path, the same section is reframed around your own brand, sales channels, catalogue, and stock.

Accounting integrations are shown too, but they are currently marked as coming soon and do not block core onboarding progress.

First shipment

This is a simple live test so you can confirm label purchase and tracking are working as expected.

Advanced setup

This covers optional improvements after the basics are live:

  • shipping rules
  • client pricing / tariffs

Choosing tenant and client

  • owners normally see their own tenant automatically
  • if you have more than one client, choose the client you want to work on from the selector
  • platform admins can choose both the tenant and the client

Good way to use this page

  1. Complete the required tenant steps first
  2. Select a client and finish the client setup steps
  3. Run a first shipment test
  4. Come back later for the advanced steps
